This year's AWARDS NIGHT for the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge, the Neighbourhood Challenge and “Best Costume” was truly an evening of joy and celebration. More than 100 guests gathered for the occasion in the Schooner room at Scotiabank's world headquarters at King & Bay Streets in Downtown Toronto.

Douma-Hussar earns Canadian title in road race debut In her first Canadian road race, Carmen Douma-Hussar showcased her versatility and sheer dominance, winning the women's 10K at the Oasis ZooRun in 33:23, Saturday in Toronto.... An Alberta-based Kenyan won the men's race, as Kip Kangogo of Lethbridge cruised to the line in 29:48, breaking away from a lead group of three runners with 4K remaining.

Coolsaet, Gillis, Loiselle do Canada proud at STWM2010 Reid Coolsaet, Eric Gillis and Matt Loiselle did Canada proud at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon on Sunday. Reid's time of 2:11:23 was the fastest time ever by a Canadian on Canadian soil, and eclipsed the mark of 2:11:34 run by now-Minister of Labour, Peter Fonseca in 1995.

Speed River club runner Coolsaet qualifies for 2012 Olympics marathon The next summer Olympic Games might be two years away, but Reid Coolsaet already knows he's going. The Speed River Track and Field runner qualified for the Olympic marathon by beating the qualifying standard at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon on Sunday morning.

Mungara, Cherop, Coolsaet top record-setting day at Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Kenya's Kenneth Mungara and Sharon Cherop ran the fastest men's and women's marathons ever on Canadian soil, and Hamilton's Reid Coolsaet took a giant leap towards achieving his Olympic dream, Sunday at the 21st Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (STWM).

Acura 10-miler perfect tune up for fall marathon: About 3,000 runners of all levels laced up their shoes and hit the pavement on Sunday for the Acura 10-miler and 5K in Toronto's historic Distillery district. Close to 3,500 pairs of shoes crossed the finish line today at the 2010 Banque Scotia 21k et 5k de Montréal, raising more than $280,000 for 24 community charities through the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge. Top male runner Matt Loiselle of Toronto finished in 1:05:07 while Mary Davies of Ottawa finished in 1:14:45 in the women's competition.

Athletics Canada 2010 Canadian Championship Series kicks off Sunday with Half Marathon — The first event in the 2010 Athletics Canada Canadian Championship Series will take place this Sunday in Montreal, Quebec, in conjunction with the Banque Scotia 21k de Montreal. The championships will also serve as the qualifying trials for the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships which will take place Oct 16 in Nanning, China.

Gillis, Njeri claim top prizes at Harry's Spring Run-Off — Canada's top marathoner Eric Gillis withstood repeated uphill attacks from Josephat Ongeri to win the eight kilometre event in 23:59, Saturday morning at the 2010 Harry's Spring Run-Off in Toronto's High Park. Lucy Njeri of Kenya cruised to a relatively easy victory in the women's race, winning in a time of 27:43, beating Toronto's Megan Brown, who finished second in 28:09.
