35th Annual ING James Cunningham Seawall Race
Fastest time since 1990

30 October, 2005—A light rain did not dampen the efforts of young running sensation
Ryan Hayden of Richmond BC as he outclassed the men's field to win the 35th annual ING James
Cunningham Seawall Race. The race (organized by Lions Gate Road Runners) is held on the
famous Stanley Park Seawall in Vancouver, BC.
Hayden ran a very fast 28:25 for the 9.5 k distance. This is fastest winning time at
ING Cunningham Seawall Race time since 1990. Hayden is better known as track runner having
run the mile in a personal best time of 3:58.27.
For the second year in a row, Steve Osaduik of Nanaimo, BC placed second in a time of
29:11 (26 seconds faster than his 2004 time). Kyle Jones of Oakville, Ontario and Scott
Simpson of Victoria, BC battled it out at the finish line to run identical times of 29:23.
Third place was eventually awarded to Kyle Jones.
First Masters runner was 50+ Paul Reimer of BC, finishing in a time of 33:23.
The 2004 women's Canadian Half Marathon champion Tina Connelly of Port Coquitlam BC ran a
fast time of 32:51 to place first in the women's field and 13th overall. Kirsty Smith of
North Vancouver ran 33:01 to place second, followed by Nancy Tinari of Coquitlam running
33:51. Tinari is also the first masters woman to finish the final event of the Canada Running
Series.
For her efforts Tinari also won major prize money ($1500) as 4th open woman and first
master woman in the prestigious Canada Running Series.
