Run for Big Brothers

Doug and Brandon

The run is just a few short weeks away. Have you considered taking part in the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge in support of Big Brothers? It's easy. Just sign up to support Big Brothers and all pledges collected will be donated to support Big Brothers' mentoring programs for boys and girls. You're already running… why not help the community at the same time?

Big and Little Brothers Doug and Brandon know first hand how sports can bring people together. Despite being complete strangers just a few years ago, the pair now spend a few hours each week doing all sorts of outdoor activities.

Their story began when Brandon's mother called Big Brothers concerned about Brandon's lack of contact with his father. A sports fan himself, the match was a huge success when Doug became Brandon's Big Brother. In fact, some of their greatest memories together involve hockey arenas and rock climbing walls.

"I was out on the ice skating with my team when I looked up and saw Brandon in the stands. He had come out to watch me play," Doug reflects. That is when he knew he and Brandon had forged a very special bond. Brandon was equally touched when Doug took part in Brandon's parent/player hockey night. "We do so much and have so much fun," Brandon explains.

Sports are more than competition. For a lot of people, they are a means to share friendship. If you want to help create more friendships like the one shared by Doug and Brandon, sign up to participate in the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge today.
