
The CRCHUM is the largest of the University of Montreal's affiliated biomedical research centres. It seeks to understand, treat and prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, organ rejection, hypertension, aneurysms, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, orthopaedic disorders, scleroderma. Its researchers also develop health promotion activities and evaluations of the health system itself, both in Quebec and abroad, with regard to front line services, service delivery and equality of access. Research activities are grouped into eight themes: cancer; cardiometabolic diseases; global health; infection-immunology-inflammation; health care systems and services; musculoskeletal diseases; neuroscience; risks to health.
