For over 150 years, the Institut Nazareth et Louis-Braille (INLB) has dedicated itself exclusively to a single goal, that of enhancing the quality of life of people living with a visual impairment, often our community's most disadvantaged. In the last 10 years, the Foundation has worked consistently on raising public and corporate awareness of the growing needs of people living with a visual impairment in terms of their education and rehabilitation. For example, thanks to the funds raised by the Foundation over the past 10 years, the INLB was able to purchase cutting-edge diagnostic equipment, such as retinal cameras, slit lamps to take photographs of the inner part of the eye and Goldmann perimeters. To further enhance the quality of life of those with a visual impairment, the Foundation also enabled the INLB to purchase tandem bicycles, Trekker (Vocal GPS) and Night Vision for use by its clientele. The Foundation has also contributed to the development of the Sensorium laboratory, which was specially designed to provide therapies and development programs for children living with a visual impairment.
