"The 8 days that shook the Marathon (and Canadian Distance Running) World!

Dear Fellow Runners,

Our Spring Odyssey continues! BRAVO to all of you who took part in Toronto Yonge Street 10K and Banque Scotia 21K de Montreal & 5K. You looked GREAT! I’ve posted the race reports and Photo Galleries under Latest News above. If you’re on Facebook, be sure to check out the Highlights Photo Galleries there. We only got them up last night and already there are TONS of tags and comments!!

Dave and I then went on from Montreal to Pittsburgh to spend time with the #runnersofsteel with our STWM booth at the Expo, and our friends @PGHmarathon. You’ll notice more and more Twitter-speak here – it is just such a gr8 way to keep in contact. I urge you all to join as we begin our journey to the Grand Finale, Scotia Toronto Waterfront on October 14th – with Beaches Jazz, Toronto 10 miler & 5K, Running Room Clinics, Launch Nights, Tune Up Training Runs along the way to provide us with INFORMATION & INSPIRATION!

I have to dash off to Prague Marathon this afternoon, then back for Ottawa Race weekend, so I’ll keep this short! I’m giving a presentation in Prague at the AIMS Congress (Association of International Marathons), entitled “City Marathons: Ideas on Neighbourhood Engagement & Activation”. I share the session on Friday morning with Guy Morse, Executive Director, Boston Marathon – so it’s quite an honour and opportunity to keep STWM, Toronto and Canada on the world stage.

Before I go, please take note that – by popular request – we are returning to The Distillery with the Toronto 10 miler & 5K, with the same route as the past few years, into scenic Tommy Thompson Park. And the date of August 12th is certainly significant. At 11am that morning, Greenwich Mean Time, Reid Coolsaet & Eric Gillis (our #1 & #2 finishers in last year’s 10 miler at The Distillery), along with Dylan Wykes,  will start the London Olympic Marathon!! They should finish just after 1pm OR 8am our time in Toronto. WE will then run our Toronto 10 miler & 5K at 8:30am….! Pumped or what? Keep an eye on Facebook, Twitter, websites, as we work on setting up some early TV at The Distillery on August 12th. Please register for #TTM and join us on a very special day with friends!
