10k Course
Canada's EASIEST and one of the fastest downhill 10k's, it runs right down the middle of Canada's most famous street—Yonge Street!
Whether you are a novice looking for the easiest course around to complete your first 10k or a seasoned veteran setting that new PB, this is the event for you! Sign up today and join 15,000 fitness enthusiasts in the dash down Yonge Street.
Course details: The start line is four blocks south of Sporting Life (at Yonge & Roselawn). From there, the course heads south on Yonge Street all the way to Richmond Street. It then turns west on Richmond, south on Peter/Blue Jays Way past Gretzky's to Front St. The course then goes west along Front, south on Bathurst, west on Fort York Blvd. to finish!
Then through the finishers chute to the party site just outside the Princes' Gates!
Finish Line
We have a new and improved (and lengthened!) Finisher's chute this year! You will finish just west of Bathurst on Fort York Blvd again this year
but we will be taking you south, past Fleet Street and into Lakeshore Park North of Lakeshore Blvd. and just East of Strachan Ave. The Finisher's
chute will extend into Lakeshore Park and will send the runners into the party site that extends into Exhibition Place through the Princes' gates!
It should be a great year with less time in the chute and more space to party after you're done your race!

Course restrictions / limitations
Owing to the popularity and large numbers of participants in the Sporting Life 10K, we regret that Baby Joggers, strollers, rollerblades and pets are not allowed in the run, as they are not safe for fellow participants.
Packet Pickup Information
You must have your bib # to pickup your packet! You will receive your bib # during race week.
- Thursday and Friday, April 29th & 30th, 10:00am–8:30pm; and Saturday, May 1st 10:00am–5:30pm; at the Sporting Life store at 2665 Yonge St (East side of Yonge St. just south of Blythwood).
- IMPORTANT! Please know your bib # and bring a printout of your registration email confirmation OR a piece of photo ID to packet pickup.
- If someone is picking up for you, they will need your bib #, a letter of permission from you OR your email confirmation (if your email confirmation is not available, check to make sure your name is on the online confirmation list, then all your friend needs is the letter of permission).
- Run day kit pick-up is limited to those living outside 416/647 area code. Make sure to bring your bib # with you (written down) on race morning — it will be very busy with 15,000 people. Pick-up will be in the Sporting Life parking lot, 2665 Yonge St., 6:30am until 7:30am.
Quality technical t-shirts available for the first 15,000 Men & Women to register for Sporting Life 10K 2010

ChampionChip© Timing & Results by SportStats.ca
You must have a chip in order to have a recorded time.
NO CHIP = NO TIME, No exceptions!
Important: You must wear the ChampionChip provided in your package envelope on your shoelaces as indicated or you will not be timed. Timing is determined using the chip; therefore you must cross the mats at all points in order to be eligible for a finishing time.
Corrals and Waves at the Sporting Life 10k this year!
If you register before April 16th you will be placed in the corresponding corral at the start line (if you register after the deadline you will be placed in the last wave — see help desk at packet pickup if you need this changed). Please make sure to arrive early on race morning to get yourselves organized. There will be coloured flags and balloons at the start line that will correspond to the colour stripe on your bib. You will only be allowed to enter the corral that corresponds to the stripe on your bib. However, anyone can enter the 1hr15+ open-orange corral.
We will not be changing corrals on Race Morning!
We will have 5 waves this year 5 minutes apart, except the last 2 waves which will be 10 minutes apart:
- 1st wave will be 48 minutes & under (8:00am) (corral: green, red)
- 2nd wave will be 49-55 minutes (8:05am) (corral: yellow)
- 3rd wave will be 56-59 minutes (8:10am) (blue)
- 4th wave will be 1hr-1hr 14 minutes (8:15am) (corral: purple)
- 5th wave will be 1hr 15 minutes + (8:25am) (corral: orange)
Waves will have approximately 5 minutes between them except the last 2 waves which will have 10 minutes between them. Walkers will be placed in corrals based on their finishing time and will not have a separate start (but will have separate results if they registered as a "walker" which means they will be walking 100% of the race). There will be volunteers holding a rope between each corral. The volunteers will guide each corral forward and will drop the rope just before it is time to go.
Competitive Age Category Runners W55+ and M65+: If you expect to be racing for a Top 3 place in your age category, you need to make sure you have been assigned to the Green or Red Start Corrals, as awards will be based on Gun Time — so you need to start near the front. If a corral change is required, please visit the HELP DESK at packet pickup.
Getting There & Parking
Arrive EARLY! Plan for at least one hour prior to run start. This is the largest run in Toronto and an experience like no other!
Carpool, cab it or take the TTC Yonge Bus! There is limited parking on the side streets surrounding Sporting Life.
- Take the TTC Yonge Bus up to the start line — check www.ttc.ca for bus schedules and bus pickup locations. There are lots of 24 hour streetcars and other buses to get you to Yonge Street: check the TTC website for more details!
- Canada Running Series goes GREEN with PICKupPAL, eco-Ride Share Programme partnership: Don't have access to a ride or public transport? Have extra space in your vehicle? Want to save some $ on parking fees? Then consider using PickupPal and help reduce your carbon footprint! It's free and exclusive to all CRS events. You can EITHER ask for or offer a ride.
- Park in one of the parking lots at Yonge & Eglinton and walk up to the start line. Then after the run take our complimentary shuttle bus at Newfoundland drive & Princes' Blvd from 9am-12pm to Union Station and take the TTC up to Eglinton station — where your car will be.
- Shuttle Buses from the Direct Energy Centre to the Start Line at the Sporting Life 10k! Park your car near the finish line (Ontario Place, Parking lot in the Exhibition Place (lot 1) at Newfoundland Drive and Princes' Blvd), and board one of our shuttle buses for $5 at Newfoundland Drive and Princes' Blvd.
Give yourself plenty of time that morning, there will be 15,000 people in this event so everything from toilets to driving will take longer than normal!
You can pay for your shuttle bus online when you register or on our add-on form found on our website at: www.eventsonline.ca/events/crs_medal
There is no baggage check at the finish line — either leave your bag in your car or bring it up to the start line and we will transport it back down for you after you have finished your run!
Shuttle Bus Schedule:
Shuttle buses will be running from 6am-7:15am
6am-6:30am SHUTTLE BUS:
Anyone planning on picking up their bib + chip or checking in their bag at the start line on race morning must be on the 6:30am bus or earlier! 6:45am SHUTTLE BUS:
Red or green corral (1st wave) who already have their bib & chip and don't have a bag to check-in should be on the 6:45am shuttle bus or earlier to make sure you're in your spot at the start line for no later than 7:15am!

Blue & yellow corral should be boarding the shuttle buses by no later than 6:55am!!
7:00am-7:15am SHUTTLE BUS:

Party Site & Friends & Family Zone
We have a new and improved Party Site this year. It will be from Fort York Blvd through the finishers chute, all along Strachan and into Princes' Gates in Exhibition Place!
Meet your friends and family just outside of the finish line chute! We will have a friends and family zone setup just south of Fleet Street and West of Fort York Blvd. in Lakeshore Park (see picture below). Meet your friends and family after they have received their medal under the letter flag of your choice. We will have all letters from A-Z posted on the flags!

You can pay online before race morning or bring cash with you and Nothers would be happy to engrave your medal on the spot!
Fitness Walkers Welcome
PLEASE NOTE: A walker is considered someone who will be walking 100% of the race, not RUN/WALKING. Please indicate on the registration form that you will be walking the race and you will be placed in the walking results. We will not have a separate start for the walkers but will place everyone at the start line based on their estimated finishing time. Due to course restrictions, all fitness walkers must be able to complete the 10K in 1 hour 40 minutes (10 minutes per kilometre).
Aid Stations / Water & Gatorade
Water & Gatorade will be available at the race party area, near the finish line and registration area, and at the 4k (Aylmer) and 7k (Richmond) Aid Stations. Canadian Ski Patrol will also be on-site at the 7k aid station, on-course and at the finish line.
Baggage Check until 20 minutes before start time!
You can check your bag at the start for a cost of $2 per bag (all proceeds from baggage go to Camp Oochigeas), and will be transported to the finish. If you paid when you registered or picked up your kit, please present your bib with the paid stamp on it to the volunteers at baggage check.
Baggage check available on Yonge Street at Sheldrake from 6:30am until 7:40am SHARP!. Baggage will then be transported to the finish area for pickup. Baggage trucks will leave the start area exactly 20 MINUTES before the start so check your bags in early if you want them transported to the finish line.
Arrive EARLY and check your bag EARLY. 15,000 runners cannot check their bags at the same time!
Port-o-Lets
Will be located at the start and finish areas, and at 4K & 7K water stations.
