Children's Heart Network
Established in 1983, the CHN is a provincial charitable organization providing education and support throughout BC to children, youth and their families who are living with congenital or acquired heart disease. Approximately 1 in every 100 children born has some form of CHD. Approximately 500 children are diagnosed with heart disease in BC each year. Half of these children require medical intervention but with innovative medical and surgical technologies most children have every opportunity to lead full and productive lives. We believe that families are the best resource available to other families and that education and support can provide families with hope and confidence. The CHN delivers the following:
- a youth support group
- a children's support program
- individual family support
- bereavement support
- education and support groups
- trained resource parents
- newsletters and a website
- biennial collaborative conference
