SOS Children's Village BC

SOS Children's Village BC

Inspired by the story of a young woman in foster care, the founding members of SOS BC researched alternative models of care and discovered SOS Children's Villages. From 2000 to 2004 a village was built on 2.5 park-like acres in Surrey, British Columbia and is now home to 5 foster families and up to 30 children and youth.

The village serves as a model from which we develop our community based programs; dedicated to strengthening families, supporting children, and creating a sense of community for children who otherwise often feel isolated because of the stigma of foster care. Community programs include Therapy services, Homework Club, the Sounds of Learning Music Program, Cultural Connections and Summer camps.

Our goal is to continue providing necessary support services to children in care, as well as provide services to keep families of origin/kinship care families together.
