Race Course Description
10 Mile Course (8:30am)
Flat and fast, this course is actually part of the Toronto Waterfront Marathon course, which makes it so fantastic to train on. Start time is 8:30am on Front Street, just East of Trinity, a mere 150m North of the Distillery District Main Gates (see new MAP, below). The run goes east to Cherry, south on Cherry to Lakeshore, east to Don Roadway, south to Commissioners, east to Leslie, then south into Tommy Thompson Park (great views of marinas, Toronto's shoreline and conservation areas), around the lagoon and back to the Distillery via the same route, to Finish at the same line you started at, on Front St. Four water stations on the course, some you hit twice.
5k Course (8:30am)
The 5k course also starts at 8:30am, following the flat and fast 10-mile route. At Bouchette & Commissioners (2km) those in the 5k will be separated from the 10 Milers and directed to the 5k turnaround. One water station you pass twice.

IN CASE OF EXTREME HEAT, please read:
These summer days of high temperatures, high humidity and sun-exposure can pose particular risks for runners and walkers. Exertional heat-related illnesses, such as heat-cramps, heat exhaustion and heat-stroke can occur in even well-acclimated athletes, along with sunburn. Athletes who may be at particular risk include mid-aged and older runners, those with underlying illness or medical conditions, those who are taking medication (including some common over-the-counter medications such as anti-histamines and cough medicines) and those who have not trained specifically for the heat and are not acclimatized.
It is particularly important to prepare well by being well-hydrated before, during and following the event using both water and electrolyte replacement fluids. Stay cool by seeking out any shaded areas on the course, or even pour some water over your head. The effects are transient but can be helpful. Dress properly and include a hat and sunglasses along with your sunscreen and other sun protection!
During your run or walk, should you feel dizzy or light-headed or faint, develop cramps, vomiting or diarrhoea then slow your pace or walk (if running) or stop, get out of the heat and (slowly and steadily) take in more electrolyte replacement fluids. If the symptoms pass in a few minutes then, and only then, consider resuming your race at an easy pace. If the symptoms persist, stop running and seek medical assistance.
Medical support staff are trained to look for signs of heat-related illness in participants and, if they identify heat exhaustion or stroke or signs of disorientation or confusion in a runner, may insist that the runner withdraw and accept medical treatment.
Baggage Check — $2 Donation
Baggage check will be available at the Boiler House patio on Tank House Lane for $2/bag. 100% of the money collected goes to the Canadian Cancer Society. You can prepay for your baggage check when you pick up your runner's kit at Commerce Court on Friday or Saturday or pay race morning at Baggage Check.
Remaining baggage after 10:30am: Please note that at 10:30am, the remaining bags will be moved over to the Awards Tent located by the Awards Stage.
